Zovirax 2g Tube
Zovirax Cold Sore Cream delivers the antiviral active ingredient, aciclovir, in a special formulation containing MAC-P. MAC-P is an absorption accelerator that allows the active ingredient to penetrate the skin 5 times faster to get to the area where the virus is reproducing. Once it reaches this area the active ingredient springs into action - making it difficult for the virus to reproduce itself. When that happens your body’s natural defences can get to work and make the cold sore disappear. The cream also contains ingredients to moisturise deep within the skin to soothe and protect.
It’s best to start treatment with Zovirax Cold Sore Cream as soon as possible because at the start, there is less virus around. When used at the tingle stage, Zovirax Cold Sore cream can reduce the virus multiplication which can stop the cold sore scab forming. However, the antiviral and moisturising properties of Zovirax Cold Sore Cream means it’s also effective at the blister phase helping to speed healing to get rid of the cold sore FAST.
Apply Zovirax to the affected area 5 times a day, (about every 4 hours). If you forget a treatment of Zovirax, apply some as soon as you remember and continue as before. Continue treatment with Zovirax for 5 days. If full healing has still not occurred after 10 days, or if your cold sore becomes very severe, consult your pharmacist. Do not exceed the stated dose.
Aciclovir 5% in propylene glycol; water miscible base.
